Evidence-Driven Psychological Evaluations for Psycholegal Questions.

Dr. McLawsen conducts comprehensive evidence-driven psychological evaluations to guide legal decision-making. Dr. McLawsen has extensive experience with a wide range of psycholegal matters, including criminal, civil, administrative, and both United States and Canadian immigration law (e.g., extreme hardship, VAWA, U-Visa, rehabilitation, Temporary Resident Permits, applications based on humanitarian and compassionate grounds, and Adam Walsh waiver applications).

Dr. McLawsen is a licensed psychologist in Washington State, a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia (Canada), and possesses a mobility license through the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT), which grants Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and Temporary Authority to Practice (TAP) in a growing number of U.S. states and territories. Dr. McLawsen holds clinical faculty appointments at the University of Washington and Simon Fraser University.  

Dr. McLawsen is honored to partner with Claire Ashbaugh, Ph.D., of Alpine Haven Psychological Services, to provide training that addresses best practices for psychological evaluations undertaken in United States and Canadian immigration law proceedings. Dr. McLawsen and Dr. Ashbaugh work with mental health professionals who are interested in conducting psychological evaluations for immigration referrals, and offer trainings for immigration attorneys, non-profit organizations, and other agencies.
